Ever since Viking times Scotland and Scandinavia have been linked in an epic tale full of twists and turns. Many traditions are shared and social values have great similarities. Viking names persist throughout Scotland which is hardly surprising as the Western Isles where until recently owned by the Scandinavians. More recently Norwegian Military forces used Scotland as a base giving rise to many romances and marriages and this camaraderie has been continued through the fishing and oil industries. But sport has also united the two places with golf and football leading the way, the two local professional teams have a long and extensive list of ex players of Scandinavian origin.
The Nordic room itself it set out in a very simple way, approached along its own private corridor it has separate toilet and shower rooms leading into a large triangular bedroom which looks out over one of the village kirks and up into the woodland of Berry’s Den. As you would expect of a Scandinavian room the furniture is bright and refreshing. It is based on simple, natural harmonies and is quietly secluded from the bustle of the hotel
